Financial Accountant – Perm

Location: Glasgow | Hybrid working – 2 days in the office/3 days from home

About the Role:

Pertemps is delighted to partner with a publicly funded organisation in Glasgow on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join the team on a permanent contract. This is a unique chance to contribute during an important time and work in a supportive, professional environment with excellent benefits.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in preparing and delivering the organisation’s annual financial statements across three legal entities, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks. You will also liaise with auditors, manage complex accounting transactions, and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead preparation of statutory accounts in line with IFRS, FReM, and public sector standards.
  • Coordinate year-end close processes, including reconciliations, working papers, and audit evidence.
  • Act as primary contact for external auditors and ensure timely resolution of findings.
  • Manage complex accounting transactions, including accruals, provisions, fixed assets, and grants.
  • Oversee taxation and insurance matters, including VAT and corporate tax.
  • Ensure accurate filing with Companies House and government bodies.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA)
  • Strong experience in financial statement preparation and external audit liaison.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and public sector accounting standards (FReM/SPFM).
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with IRIS or similar accounting software.
  • Exposure to consolidation and intercompany transactions.
  • Proven experience driving process improvements in year-end reporting.
