We are looking for a high-calibre Financial Accountant to join our growing finance team within a fast-paced retail environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Big 4-Qualified ACA with strong technical accounting fundamentals who is looking to move into a commercially focused role. You will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the financial accounts, while working closely with stakeholders across the wider finance function and the business.
The successful candidate will be technically strong, analytical and highly organised, with the ability to operate effectively in a high-volume, deadline-driven retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver key areas of the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accounts are complete, accurate and delivered within tight deadlines.
- Prepare and review monthly management and financial reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
- Maintain robust balance sheet controls and reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances promptly.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end reporting requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for the external audit, coordinating information requests and supporting the audit process.
- Assist with technical accounting matters, including assessment of new accounting standards and complex transactions where required.
- Partner with commercial, operational and finance stakeholders to understand and explain financial performance.
- Analyse financial data and identify trends, anomalies and opportunities to improve the quality of reporting.
- Support cash flow, working capital and financial planning activities as required.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of financial controls, processes and reporting.

You will ideally have:

- ACA qualification from a Big 4 accountancy firm.
- Strong financial accounting and reporting experience, ideally gained within a large, complex or high-volume environment.
- Experience of working with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and statutory reporting.
- Excellent understanding of UK GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial information and communicate key insights clearly.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
- Experience with a large ERP or finance system; experience with [SAP/Oracle/D365/etc.] would be advantageous.
- The ability to operate comfortably in a fast-paced retail environment, where priorities can change quickly.
