Our Role

The role of the Financial Accountant – Stock has responsibility for the reconciliation, accounting and reporting of all stock movements across the business. Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager for Finance Operations, the role works closely with the Supply Chain, Merchandising, Buying, Warehouse, Loss Prevention, IT and Retail Operations to analyse and report on the financials on several “other margin” P&L lines and will be responsible for the preparation of the Budget and Reforecast for these cost lines. The role is a mix of financial accounting and management accounting/business partnering, making it an ideal role for someone to gain experience of both areas.

What you’ll be doing

The Financial Accountant - Stock will be responsible for:

  • Preparation and analysis of stock-related reports and daily reconciliation of stock holdings across the Warehouse Management System and the core accounting system (Microsoft D365), providing insights and identifying trends or recurring issues and working with operational teams to understand the causes of stock variances, supporting the resolution of identified issues
  • Preparation of period-end monthly management accounts for “other margin” cost lines including (but not limited to): stock-losses and adjustments, stock-takes and other margin adjustments, providing insight and analysis on any material variances
  • Monthly preparation of all Stock Balance Sheet account reconciliations across all legal entities, highlighting and investigating any material variances. These includes (but is not limited to): Stock, Stock Adjustments, Goods Received Not Invoiced, Commission and Packaging.
  • Ensuring accurate stock valuation, including cost elements related to commission and packaging, investigating any anomalies or variances
  • Monthly review of stock holdings for high value stock, negative stock, aged stock in transit and aged GRNI transactions
  • Production of monthly management reports for the wider Finance, Loss Prevention and Warehouse teams providing value added analysis on stock losses and using financial data to support decision-making to improve stock integrity in the DC and our Stores
  • Support the Loss Prevention Team with the Store Stock-takes and the Head Office stock borrowing processes
  • Responding to year-end audit requests for Stock, including year-on-year analysis on stockholdings, calculation of the goods-in-transit and the obsolete stock provisions, and providing supporting documentation for auditors
  • Responsible for the production of the Budget and Reforecasts for the stock-related “other margin” P&L cost lines, working closely with other teams for example Loss Prevention and the Warehouse to understand opportunities and support initiatives to reduce stock-losses across the business
  • Responding to ongoing ad-hoc analysis of any stock/other margin related movements
  • Ongoing review and ownership of the controls around the processes and accounting for stock, using advancements in technology and suggesting practical improvements where appropriate
  • Other ad-hoc requests

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
