Hays is working with a business in the educational sector to recruit a Financial Accountant, with a focus on Tax and Treasury to support the business on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Director, we are looking for someone to be responsible for tax and treasury management and monthly cash reporting to lead on continuous initiatives across the finance team, achieving more efficient ways of working. The role will include:
- Lead the organisation's treasury function, ensuring effective cash flow management and forecasting.
- Take ownership of VAT and Corporation Tax compliance, including accurate reporting and return submissions.
- Manage treasury reconciliations, banking relationships and financial controls.
- Act as the lead adviser on tax matters, supporting strategic projects and business decisions.
- Oversee PCI compliance and payment service provider relationships.
- Lead and develop a specialist tax team, driving continuous improvement and best practice.
- Present financial insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders and committees.
- Support the development and implementation of finance policies and procedures.

What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for a qualified accountant, ideally with previous VAT knowledge gained from the not-for-profit, education or charitable sector.
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification.
- Treasury and cash flow forecasting experience.
- Excellent technical accounting and financial control knowledge.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proactive approach to process improvement and problem-solving
