Financial Accountant - Manufacturing
Remote (UK) - Occasional Travel to West Sussex - Permanent - German Statutory and Tax Reporting for an International Group
£65,000 - £75,000
Are you a technically strong qualified accountant who is fluent in German and knows HGB properly? Do you enjoy statutory and tax work where the filings have to be right the first time?
We Do Group are hiring a Financial Accountant for an international manufacturing group, to look after local GAAP and tax reporting for its German entities. The group reports under US GAAP centrally, so the job is largely about bridging that back to HGB accurately and defending it at audit.
It's a genuinely technical seat rather than a management accounts one. You'll be the person the wider finance team leans on for German statutory and tax detail, working with outsourced providers who prepare a lot of the underlying work and need reviewing properly. The role is remote, with occasional travel to the West Sussex office.

Wish List
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA or the German equivalent) with a strong technical grounding
- Practical HGB experience, ideally alongside US GAAP or IFRS reporting
- Fluent German and English, written and spoken - this is non-negotiable given the filings and the auditors involved
The Role
- Prepare and review the annual financial statements for the German entities under HGB, to the group timetable
- Build the quarterly US GAAP to HGB balance sheet bridge reconciliations in enough detail to be reviewed and approved
- Post and check the statutory entries in the general ledger so the local books stay clean month to month
- Prepare VAT and corporation tax filings to a standard that is ready for director sign-off
- Keep Intrastat, EC Sales and import / export reporting current and accurate
- Check that transfer pricing agreements are correctly reflected in the accounts
- Review the tax position on vendor and customer invoices where treatment looks wrong
- Work alongside external auditors, pulling together samples and resolving queries quickly
- Manage the outsourced accounting providers, holding them to quality and to deadline
- Track changes in German tax rules and flag anything that affects the group's reporting
- Support the wider European finance team on statutory and tax matters as they come up
- Tidy up the processes behind all of the above where they are more manual than they need to be

Your Profile
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CIMA or German equivalent)
- Effective communicator - written & verbal
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel
- Working knowledge of German tax and comfort dealing with local advisers
- SAP experience preferred
