Financial Accountant
Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days per week)
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000

We're partnered with a global Financial Services organisation looking to appoint a Financial Accountant to support the accounting and reporting for its German legal entity whilst working closely with the wider EMEA Finance team.

This is a broad, hands-on role offering exposure to statutory reporting, regulatory reporting, financial control, external audits, and finance transformation projects. You'll play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance while helping to improve processes and controls across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the accounting and financial reporting for the German legal entity, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory financial statements under German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS where applicable.
  • Support regulatory reporting, capital adequacy reporting, and ongoing compliance across regulated entities.
  • Complete key balance sheet reconciliations and ensure regulatory obligations are met.
  • Produce management reporting, board packs, and financial analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Work closely with external auditors, tax advisers, and regulatory bodies throughout statutory reporting and audit cycles.
  • Prepare VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory tax submissions.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and finance transformation initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the wider finance function and international business.

  • Experience preparing statutory financial statements under German GAAP (HGB).
  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or German equivalent).
  • Fluent German and English language skills.
  • Experience within Financial Services or another regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting statutory reporting, regulatory reporting, and external audits.
  • Strong Excel skills, with Power Query or SQL knowledge beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
