Interim Financial Accountant | North Yorkshire | circa £40-48k annualised equivalent
Somewhere in North Yorkshire, this finance team is going through a major transformation and modernisation. A critical part of that is happening right now; among many projects and priorities, one of them is switching systems.
Everyone is watching the new platform. Meanwhile, someone has to make sure the invoices get posted, the reconciliations balance, and the month-end closes on time.
That someone could be you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What is in it for you
- A front-row seat. Real, hands-on work testing transactions in an SAP S/4HANA integration, which is a skill that travels to any SAP employer.
- Variety. GL, reconciliations, fixed assets and customer accounting in one assignment, not one narrow slice.
- Good people to learn from. You would work alongside experienced finance and project colleagues.
- Impact from week one. The work shows when it is done right, and nobody has to wait for an annual review to notice.
- A clear end. Six to nine months, three days on site and two remote, then you choose what is next.

You will probably fit if you have three to five years in GL, reconciliations and month-end and are comfortable in Excel and an ERP.
SAP is a plus, not a must. If you have never touched S/4HANA, this is a route in which will definitely open future doors.
