- Act as the primary finance lead for smaller UK entities, overseeing financial control, period-end activities, and balance sheet management, while working closely with GBS to drive effective and efficient service delivery.
- Preparing and completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Preparing and posting accurate journals in line with Group accounting policies.
- Investigating and resolving balance sheet and P&L discrepancies.
- Supporting statutory and SOX audit requirements, including preparing relevant information and schedules.
- Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts and supporting documentation.
- Supporting tax compliance and reporting activities.
- Execute and strengthen SOX controls, ensuring accurate documentation and completed in line with reporting requirements.
- Maintaining financial master data and supporting ERP control activities where required.
- Producing financial analysis and reporting to support effective business decision-making.
- Working with GBS and Group Finance teams to investigate and resolve accounting issues.
- Identifying financial risks or control weaknesses and escalating these where appropriate.
- Contributing ideas and recommendations to improve processes, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency.
- Supporting ad hoc finance projects and wider business initiatives as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
