We're looking for a Financial Accounting Assistant to join our Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract. If you're detail-oriented, enjoy problem-solving, and want to develop your finance career within a growing business, we'd love to hear from you.
📍 Chester (Hybrid Working)
💷 Up to £29,000 per annum
⏰ 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
🏡 Minimum 2 days per week in our Chester HQ
About the role
Reporting to our Senior Financial Accountant, you'll play an important role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records while supporting the wider finance team with reporting, reconciliations and month-end activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the daily cashbook and performing bank reconciliations
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Posting accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other month-end journals
- Producing daily receipts reconciliations
- Reconciling key ledgers and partner accounts
- Supporting year-end accounts and audit requirements
- Assisting with financial reporting and compliance activities
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, including through the use of AI and automation

What we're looking for
We're keen to hear from candidates who are:
- AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT (or equivalent)
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable working with Excel and financial systems
- Strong communicators who enjoy collaborating with others
- Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proactive, adaptable and eager to learn
Experience with SAP Business ByDesign, AI tools or working within a multi-entity finance environment would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
