Financial Accounting Clerk II

📍 Edinburgh, Remote

Take the next step in your accounting career. Hudson Talent Solutions is looking for a Financial Accounting Clerk II to join our Finance team on a 3-6 months temporary contract. This opportunity would suit an accounting professional who has developed a strong grounding in daily finance operations and is ready to take greater ownership of reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and month-end support.

Working under moderate supervision, you will manage routine accounting activities, resolve day-to-day queries, and help ensure that financial information is accurate, timely, and reliable. The role typically requires one to three years of related experience.

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing and verifying journal entries and financial transactions
  • Supporting month-end accounting activities
  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Maintaining general ledger information
  • Preparing standard accounting statements and financial reports
  • Completing account and bank reconciliations
  • Performing moderately complex calculations using spreadsheets and other financial tools
  • Resolving routine accounting queries and processing issues
  • Partnering with Commercial Finance, Management Accounting, Operations, Shared Services, and regional and global Finance colleagues

What you’ll bring

You will ideally have:

  • One to three years of relevant accounting or finance experience
  • Experience processing journal entries
  • Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
  • Experience supporting month-end processes
  • Strong reconciliation and standard reporting skills
  • A basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Good time-management and organisational skills
  • Clear communication and a collaborative approach
  • The ability to adapt and take accountability for your work

Experience within recruitment, RPO, professional services, outsourcing, shared services, or a multi-client environment would be beneficial. Exposure to Power BI or progress toward an ACA, CA, CPA, or ACCA qualification would also be an advantage.

You will reliably manage daily accounting activities, resolve routine issues with increasing independence, and contribute to timely month-end support. Success will also be reflected in strong service-level performance, faster query resolution, and a reduction in processing errors.
