Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially minded and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to support the financial management and performance analysis of a high-volume claims management operation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing financial and operational data, monitoring claims-related income and costs, supporting forecasting and budgeting, and providing accurate financial insight to management. The role will involve working closely with Finance, Claims Operations, Data, Compliance and senior management teams.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with large volumes of transactions and data, identifying trends and anomalies, and translating financial information into clear and actionable business insight.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Analyse financial performance across claims volumes, revenues, costs, recoveries and operational expenditure.
- Produce regular financial reports, management information and performance dashboards.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets, forecasts and agreed financial targets.
- Investigate significant variances and provide clear explanations and recommendations.
- Analyse revenue and cost performance by claim type, client, campaign, product, team or operational area.
- Support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
Claims & Operational Analysis
- Analyse high-volume claims transactions to identify financial trends, discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor the financial impact of claim volumes, settlement values, fees, recoveries, adjustments and rejected or unsuccessful claims.
- Reconcile claims data against financial records and investigate discrepancies.
- Support analysis of claims lifecycle performance and its financial impact.
- Identify unusual movements, duplicate transactions, potential leakage and other financial exceptions.

Forecasting & Planning
- Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts and financial models.
- Develop volume and revenue forecasts using historical performance and operational assumptions.
- Carry out scenario and sensitivity analysis to support business planning.
- Work with operational teams to understand changes in claims volumes, staffing, productivity and costs.
Business Partnering
- Work closely with Claims Operations and senior management to understand financial performance.
- Provide financial insight to support operational and commercial decision-making.
- Translate complex financial information into clear, practical recommendations.
- Support business cases for process improvements, technology investments and resource planning.
Controls & Data Quality
- Maintain strong financial controls over claims-related transactions and reporting.
- Identify data quality issues and work with relevant teams to resolve them.
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
- Ensure financial reporting is accurate, consistent and supported by appropriate documentation.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in financial analysis, management accounting, commercial finance or a similar analytical role.
- Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS and data analysis.
- Experience analysing large datasets and high-volume transactions.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.

Desirable
- Experience within claims management, insurance, financial services, legal services, debt recovery or another high-volume transactional environment.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- Experience working with SQL or large relational datasets.
