Financial Analyst - Pensions

Location: NW London

Contract: Temporary (6 months)

Salary: £450 per day umbrella / £391.64 PAYE Inclusive / £349.46 PAYE Exclusive

Job Description

Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in London for a Financial Analyst to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will play a key role in the financial management and reporting of the Pension Fund. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong accounting experience and an understanding of pension fund accounting, particularly within the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate Pension Fund financial reports, annual accounts, annual reports and supporting working papers.
  • Reconcile the financial ledger to LGPS and Teachers’ Pension records, resolving discrepancies and ensuring accurate income and expenditure reporting.
  • Complete year-end adjustments, statutory returns, account disclosures and respond promptly to audit queries.
  • Provide financial monitoring and analysis, support Pension Fund Committee and Board reports, and assist with investment strategy and transactions.

Candidate Criteria

  • Qualified accountant or equivalent experience, with strong knowledge of financial accounting and controls within local authority.
  • Experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, year-end processes and statutory returns; local government or pension fund experience is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and systems skills, including Oracle Financials, with the ability to identify trends, variances and financial risks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information and work to strict deadlines.
