Finance Analyst - Public Sector
Day rate: £430 per day (inside IR35)
Contract: 3 months
Archer Mac is pleased to be supporting a well-known independent public body in their search for a Finance Analyst to join the Financial Planning & Analysis team within Corporate Services.
This is a varied finance business partnering role at the heart of how the organisation plans, monitors and reports its finances. You'll lead the monthly, quarterly and annual budgeting, forecasting and actuals cycle with budget holders and managers across the organisation, acting as their first point of contact for finance queries and guidance. You'll also manage and monitor the business case approval process, keeping the tracker current and staying closely involved in business case development.

Beyond the core cycle, you'll support colleagues across FP&A on the organisation's Corporate Plan, Main and Supplementary Estimates, and other key activities through the year, and lead on handling Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information requests relating to finance. You'll work closely with the FP&A Accountant, Financial Analyst, Project Accountants, Head of FP&A and Directors, alongside external contacts including the National Audit Office, HM Treasury and Parliament office staff.
We're looking for someone educated to degree level or with equivalent experience, who is a qualified or a part-qualified accountant working towards full qualification. You'll bring solid experience of financial management, management accounting and financial planning, ideally gained in government finance, plus working knowledge of public sector accounting principles and the Supply Estimates process. Strong Excel skills, a methodical, analytical mindset, and the confidence to explain complex financial issues to non-finance stakeholders are essential, as is the resilience to manage competing priorities under pressure.
