Shape outcomes across two leading London councils as a Financial Assessment Officer, delivering vital support that makes a real difference to residents' lives.
The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster Councils have a number of shared services serving both authorities, with some teams and roles more focused on one Council than the other, but the majority are shared across both, meaning you get multiple opportunities to learn from a wider pool of activities and two different political bodies.
What you'll be doing
You will be joining a dedicated team and will be the technical point of contact for ASC staff. You will be providing advice and guidance to our ASC colleagues, clients, relatives, solicitors etc. on residential and non-residential financial assessments. You will process financial assessment applications and correspondence accurately and efficiently, in accordance with policy and statutory requirements.
You will communicate effectively with clients (or their representatives) through home visits or by telephone, email, or letter and liaise with other council departments or external agencies as required.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of statutory charging for Residential Care and non-residential charging policy and procedures. Government regulations and guidance, other associated welfare benefits, and IT systems. Keep up-to-date with changing benefit entitlement affecting service users and provide a high level of advocacy on the availability of and how to apply for various additional sources of income, including Pensions Credit, Disability Benefits, Housing Benefit, Tax Credits, etc.

What you'll bring
We're looking for a customer-focused individual with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering a high-quality service. You'll have strong communication, numeracy, and literacy skills, be confident working with a diverse range of people, and be able to maintain accurate records. A flexible and proactive approach, together with the ability to interpret and use data in line with procedures and legislation, is essential. Experience in Adult Social Care or Welfare Benefits is welcomed but not essential, as full training will be provided. Most importantly, you'll be keen to learn, embrace change, and support your ongoing professional development.

Interview details and role requirements
This is a 1 Year Fixed term role and will need an Enhanced Adults DBS check.
Interviews will take place W/C 12th October 2026.
