West Berkshire Council is seeking a motivated Financial Assessment Reviewing Officer to join our Adult Social Care Service, reporting to the Financial Assessment Team Manager.
As a Financial Assessment Reviewing Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring a consistent and fair approach when completing financial assessment reviews, to promote affordable, sustainable support for individuals who require Adult Social care service. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality financial assessment services within a supportive and collaborative working environment.
The Role
As a Financial Assessment Reviewing Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Undertaking financial assessment reviews on an annual basis for individuals receiving adult social care services, ensuring accurate determination of charges and contributions.
- Processing financial information and maintaining accurate, comprehensive records.
- Providing welfare benefit advice.
- Collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to ensure effective information sharing and resolution of queries.
- Supporting the Financial Assessment Team in the delivery of the financial assessment service.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Experience in financial assessment within a social care environment.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide advice and support to service users.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively, while also contributing to team objectives.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data processing.
- Hold a full, clean driving licence.

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.
