ML Photonic is a specialist, high-precision optics and photonics manufacturing company based in Dunfermline and conducting business across the whole of the UK. We have been operating since 2023 and continue to grow at a rapid rate, approaching almost 40 members of staff.

The Role
In this role you will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s financial admin function and will be reporting directly to the General Manager
Duties will include:
- Processing of purchase and sales invoices, staff expenses and other financial transactions
- Credit control
- Bank and control account reconciliations
- Posting of payroll and accounting journals
- Preparation of VAT returns
- Maintaining up to date technical knowledge of VAT rules and accounting software
- Oral and written communication with customers and suppliers
- Regular liaison with our external management accountants
- Daily communication with our overseas parent company
- Filing and document management
- Support external finance partner to deliver routine accounting operations. Maintain company records in relation to general accounts payable/accounts receivable, general ledger, month and year end processes.
- Help to develop and analyse the company’s financial reports and support the monthly/yearly audit processes.
- Support the company’s Payroll and Pension process in conjunction with external partner.
- Submit various regular finance reports to the Head Office as requested.

About You
- Ideally you will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar role.
- Be confident and competent using online accounting software, ideally Xero.
- You will be committed to delivering first class and professional services.
- Will have the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Will be comfortable in working on your own and showing initiative whilst knowing when to ask for help.
- You will have excellent IT skills and have a proven ability to retain knowledge in relation to software.
- Have strong communication skills both oral and written.
- You will be adaptable, with the ability to prioritise workload.
- Maintaining confidentiality with regards to sensitive information.
