Job Title: Finance Assistant
Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust comprises four academies in and around Birmingham and is committed to enriching lives and transforming futures. The Trust now has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join the team and provide proactive, forward-thinking finance support across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Dealing with all incoming queries (verbal and in writing) and responding/escalating where necessary.
- Proactively building, developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
- Inputting standing information into the Trust’s finance system (suppliers, debtors).
- Processing purchase orders from requisitions and invoices, ensuring appropriate authorisation, and raising sales invoices.
- Investigating and resolving supplier invoices under query, arranging returns, and ensuring that refunds or credit notes are received.
- Maintaining a detailed record of non-invoiced income relating to extra-curricular clubs, trips, etc., including fundraising initiatives.
- Assisting in the preparation of academy budgets and in month-end and year-end procedures.
- Providing high-quality administrative support to the Finance Business Partner as required.

Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of IRIS financials and procurement.
- Purchase ledger experience.
- Previous experience working in a financial and educational setting.
- Five GCSEs, including Maths and English (grades 4–9) or equivalent.
- Awareness of child protection and safeguarding with up-to-date training (or a willingness to undertake training).
- Adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, parents and students.
- Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential student information.

Salary: £29,064 – £30,024 (term-time-only salary: £25,528).
Hours: Full-time, with the potential for term-time only plus 2 weeks or year-round.
Location: Smith’s Wood Academy, Birmingham, with one day a week working from home.
