Finance Assistant

Location: Stockport
Salary: up to £25,000
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to build a career in finance? Do you have strong numerical skills, excellent attention to detail and a desire to learn?

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Finance Assistant to join our growing finance team. This is an excellent development opportunity for someone at the beginning of their finance career who is eager to gain broad exposure across multiple areas of accounting and financial operations. No previous finance experience is required.

Working closely with our experienced finance team, you'll receive hands-on training, support and mentoring while developing valuable skills that can provide a strong foundation for a successful career in finance.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process purchase invoices, match Purchase Orders, issue customer invoices, and track incoming/outgoing payments.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and ledger balances to resolve discrepancies.
  • Month-End Support: Assist with month-end close, accruals, prepayments
  • Administrative Duties: Handle employee expense claims, and answer internal or external finance queries

What We're Looking For

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • A proactive and positive approach to learning
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Relevant A-Level or BTEC qualifications
  • AAT studies or an interest in pursuing a finance qualification would be advantageous but is not essential
