Senior Finance Assistant
South Manchester
£30,000–£40,000 depending on experience

About the Role
We are looking for a highly organised Senior Finance Assistant to join an Investment Management company in South Manchester.
This is a great opportunity for someone with previous financial administration or bookkeeping experience who is looking for a varied role with genuine ownership and exposure across finance and commercial operations.
You will work closely with the Finance Director, supporting the day-to-day running of the company portfolio finances across investments, property, banking and financial administration.
The role will suit someone who enjoys variety, is comfortable managing multiple priorities and takes a proactive approach to solving problems and improving processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Process invoices and payments, ensuring accurate coding within the finance system
- Manage day-to-day banking, including payments, transfers and cash monitoring across multiple accounts and entities
- Produce clear summary reports on cash position and spending
- Perform regular bank and account reconciliations
- Track cash deployed in investments and maintain accurate records of cash movements, interest and gains/losses
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and post interest
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records
- Support the Finance Director with monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Help monitor the financial performance of portfolio companies
- Assist with financial due diligence administration on new investment opportunities
- Liaise with solicitors, advisors, banks and portfolio company contacts
- Support external tax advisors by gathering information and monitoring key deadlines
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and administration
- Provide general ad hoc administrative support to the team

About You
- Previous experience within a finance, financial administration or bookkeeping role
- Strong numeracy and genuine attention to detail
- Highly organised with experience managing detailed administration and documentation
- Good Excel skills
- Comfortable managing a varied workload and taking initiative
- Resilient and calm when priorities change
- Trustworthy and discreet when handling sensitive financial information
- Confident communicating with advisors, banks and portfolio company contacts
- Familiarity with bookkeeping software such as Xero or QuickBooks would be advantageous
- A self-starter with a proactive approach to improving processes
