Finance Assistant

Basildon, Essex | Construction Industry

Are you an experienced Finance Assistant looking for your next career move? Our client, an established and growing business within the construction industry, is looking for a motivated Finance Assistant to join their finance team in Basildon, Essex.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with around 2–3 years of finance experience who is keen to broaden their knowledge, take on more responsibility and develop their career within a successful business.

The Role

Working closely with the wider finance team, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing and managing Accounts Payable
  • Supporting Accounts Receivable processes
  • Assisting with credit control and chasing outstanding payments
  • Supporting monthly payroll processes
  • Processing invoices and payments
  • Reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Assisting with month-end procedures
  • Dealing with supplier and customer queries
  • Supporting the wider finance team with ad-hoc duties and projects
  • Ensuring financial information is accurate and up to date

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Ideally 2–3 years’ experience within a finance/accounts environment
  • Confident working across purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control
  • Ideally has some exposure to payroll
  • Comfortable using Excel and finance/accounting systems
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • A confident communicator who can work with both internal teams and external customers/suppliers
  • Proactive, reliable and keen to learn
  • Looking to progress and develop their career within finance
