Alexander Daniels are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing organisation for a Finance Assistant to join their finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to take the next step in their career. Working closely with an experienced Finance Manager, you’ll gain exposure to a broad range of accounting and finance responsibilities, making this an ideal role for someone who wants to move beyond transactional finance and develop into a more rounded accounting position.
We are specifically looking for someone with strong hands-on transactional finance experience, particularly across purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations, who is keen to build on these foundations and progress their career over the next 1-2 years.
The business is ideally seeking a candidate with around 2-3 years of finance experience who demonstrates the ambition, capability, and drive to take on more advanced accounting responsibilities within 6-9 months. This role offers genuine development opportunities and would suit someone studying towards, or considering, a professional accounting qualification.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
