Role Description
We are looking for a Financial Assistant to support our UK finance and accounts operations remotely. This is a full-time remote role, preferably for candidates currently based in Bangladesh, with a strong focus on backend finance operations, bookkeeping, financial reconciliation, ledger maintenance, invoice processing, payment tracking, and financial record management.
The successful candidate will work closely with our UK Accounts and Finance team and will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reconciliations, monitoring outstanding balances, and assisting with day-to-day finance administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular bank, invoice, payment, and ledger reconciliations.
- Reconcile payments against invoices, commission statements, and internal records.
- Maintain accurate sales and purchase ledgers.
- Process and record supplier invoices, commission invoices, expenses, and other financial transactions.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Track outstanding payments and maintain clear reconciliation records.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and supporting documentation.
- Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Support the reconciliation of student commission payments and university/partner statements.
- Prepare and maintain Excel-based reconciliation schedules.
- Maintain organised records of invoices, payment proofs, statements, and supporting documents.
- Assist with month-end accounting activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and ledger reviews where required.
- Support VAT, payroll, management accounts, and other finance-related activities where required.
- Liaise with internal teams and external partners regarding finance-related queries.
- Support the Finance Manager with other backend accounting and administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience
- Academic background in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related subject is preferred.
- Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounts, finance administration, or a similar role is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of debits and credits, ledgers, invoicing, bank reconciliation, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Practical experience in financial reconciliation and identifying discrepancies.
- Experience maintaining financial ledgers and transaction records.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems would be an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Previous experience in the education, student recruitment, consultancy, or commission-based sector would be advantageous.
- Candidates currently based in Bangladesh are preferred due to the remote operating structure of the role.
- Ability to work effectively with a UK-based team and follow UK working hours where required.

Ideal Candidates
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working behind the scenes with large volumes of financial data, commission records, invoices, statements, payment schedules, and reconciliation spreadsheets. The ideal candidate will have a genuine finance background, strong bookkeeping knowledge, and practical experience maintaining ledgers and reconciling financial transactions. This role would be particularly suitable for someone based in Bangladesh who has previous experience in accounting or finance and is looking to work remotely with a UK-based education consultancy.
