An established and successful electrical wholesale business is looking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the company.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. With a significant number of transactions moving through the business, strong cash flow management and financial control will be absolutely central to the position.
Managing a team of 4 finance staff, you’ll oversee the finance function while providing accurate, timely information to support the senior management team and wider business.
The Role
- Managing and developing a finance team of 4
- Taking ownership of cash flow management, forecasting and working capital
- Overseeing a high volume of financial transactions
- Producing monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Managing budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
- Overseeing purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control
- Monitoring debtor and creditor positions
- Bank reconciliations and management of banking requirements
- VAT returns and other statutory financial requirements
- Maintaining robust financial controls, processes and procedures
- Supporting year-end accounts and liaising with external accountants/auditors
- Providing financial analysis and commercial insight to senior management
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and efficiencies

The Candidate
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar
- Strong practical experience of cash flow and working capital management
- Experience within a high-volume transactional environment
- Previous responsibility for managing a small finance team
- Strong management accounts and reporting experience
- Excellent attention to detail and financial controls
- A commercial, pragmatic approach with the ability to see beyond the numbers
- Confidence working closely with senior management
- Experience within wholesale, distribution, electrical, manufacturing or a similarly fast-paced sector would be advantageous
