KCR Solutions are delighted to be working exclusively with a dynamic and growing business in Consett to recruit an experienced Financial Controller.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to take ownership of the company's financial operations and play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the business.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the company's finances, providing accurate financial information, meaningful insight, and commercial support to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will be varied and hands-on, with responsibility for:
- Producing accurate monthly management accounts and statutory accounts
- Preparing and managing budgets and financial forecasts, reporting key findings to senior management
- Managing corporation tax, VAT returns, and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Working closely with team members to monitor and discuss progress on job costings
- Analysing project costs against revenue and highlighting key variances
- Identifying, exploring, and applying for relevant grant funding opportunities
- Managing payroll and ensuring PAYE and VAT submissions are completed accurately and on time with HMRC
- Overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Managing cash flow and intercompany invoicing
- Carrying out credit control and negotiating appropriate payment terms
- Providing accurate and timely accounting information to external bodies
- Supporting the Managing Director and senior management team with financial analysis and commercial decision-making

About You
We are looking for a confident and capable finance professional who can take ownership of the company's financial function and become a key member of the team.

You will be either a qualified Accountant or qualified by experience, with a strong understanding of financial accounting and commercial business operations.
You Will Also Have
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Xero and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to identify issues and suggest improvements
- The ability to work independently while also working closely with the wider management team
