Financial Controller

A rapidly scaling, talent solutions consultancy based in London and New York is currently seeking an ambitious, hands-on Financial Controller to own our finance operations and optimize internal processes.

About the Role

Reporting directly to our fractional CFO and working closely with our Co-Founders, Operations, and Commercial teams, the role will be responsible for:

  • Produce accurate monthly management reporting packs for leadership, complete with commercial commentary and actionable insights.
  • Track and report on profitability and margins across practices, clients, and teams.
  • Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling to track performance against strategic plans.
  • Advise leadership on commercial decisions including pricing models, hiring strategy, and growth investments.
  • Own the complete accounting cycle across UK and US entities: billing, AP/AR, payroll inputs, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Lead month-end processes to a strict timetable to deliver reliable management accounts.
  • Oversee credit control, cash collection, and maintain a rolling 13-week cash forecast.
  • Ensure full statutory and tax compliance across multi-entity operations including managing intercompany transactions and consolidations.
  • Transition key financial tasks in-house while managing relationships with external advisory partners.
  • Maximize performance across financial tech stack tools (Xero, Dext, AI-assisted tools, and automation).
  • Ensure seamless data flow from placements, contractor timesheets, and project milestones into invoicing and financial reporting.
  • Partner with Operations on shared workflows: commission calculations, contractor payroll, client/supplier contracts, and onboarding.
  • Act as the primary internal contact for commercial finance queries, helping non-finance stakeholders navigate performance numbers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
