Financial Controller
Stevenage, Hertfordshire | Hybrid (3–4 days in office)
c£80,000 + 10%+ bonus + benefits
Our client, a highly successful, long-established international group that is expanding into the UK market, is investing significantly in a new arm of the business which it intends to ambitiously grow over the next 12 months.
They now need a Financial Controller to build and lead the finance function from the ground up. Roles created through acquisition and growth are rare in the current market. This one offers the energy and scope of a start-up, with the safety net and financial backing of a well-resourced group finance function behind you.

The Role
Reporting to the CFO, you will set up the finance function for the UK rentals business, bring the acquired operation onto group standards and build a small finance team around you. Key responsibilities include:
- Setting up systems, controls, month-end checklists, and SOPs alongside Group Finance
- Delivering accurate, timely month-end accounts with insightful commentary, in line with group reporting deadlines
- Preparing budgets and forecasts that support the business’s growth plans
- Business partnering with the leadership team, giving insight and supporting and challenging in equal measure
- Leading process improvement and finance projects as the business scales

About You
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
- A thorough understanding of the motor industry and its financial dynamics (essential – Please do not apply if you do not have this experience)
- A confident communicator who can build strong relationships across finance, operations, sales, and senior management
- Commercially minded and analytical, with advanced Excel and strong presentation skills
- Comfortable working both hands-on and strategically, and excited by building something new
