London (Liverpool Street) | Hybrid (2 days office / 3 days remote) £65,000 - £80,000 + Benefits

Our client, a reputable professional services business offering pension scheme oversight, is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to join its leadership team overseeing a broad remit that offers significantly more exposure than a typical Financial Controller position.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a key role in financial leadership, business planning, and strategic decision-making. This opportunity would suit a qualified accountant looking to step beyond technical finance responsibilities and gain exposure to board-level activity and business operations.

The Opportunity

You will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, manage a team of two, and ensure robust financial control across our client's multiple business units and two legal entities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Producing statutory accounts and managing the annual audit
  • Managing cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
  • Delivering high-quality management information and board reporting
  • Maintaining strong financial controls and audit readiness
  • Overseeing corporation tax, VAT and wider compliance matters
  • Building and developing forecasting, budgeting and scenario models
  • Supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis
  • Managing and developing two Finance Assistants
  • Driving process improvement, automation and finance systems enhancement
  • Working with senior stakeholders across the business on operational and commercial initiatives
  • Supporting shareholder and executive-level reporting requirements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
