Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

About You

We’re looking for a technically strong Financial Controller with a robust grounding in financial reporting, financial controls and governance.

Ideally, you will have trained in practice, particularly Big 4 or Top 10, or bring an equivalent level of technical experience if industry-trained.

You’ll be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with a strong background in financial reporting and control. A strong understanding of UK GAAP, with some exposure to other reporting frameworks such as US GAAP, would be beneficial.

SAP experience is a non-negotiable requirement for this role. You must have demonstrable, hands-on experience working with SAP and be confident operating within an SAP-led financial control environment.

You’ll also bring a strong track record in financial controls, governance and risk management. An audit background, whether gained in practice or industry, would be highly desirable, particularly where this has given you a strong understanding of control frameworks, processes, compliance and identifying areas of risk.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

This role involves working across different teams, cultures, locations and ways of working, so we’re looking for someone who can lead effectively in a complex environment.

Previous experience leading or working with offshore teams is highly desirable. However, we’re equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong leadership without relying on formal authority — for example, those who have successfully influenced, coordinated and delivered through individuals and teams across different cultures, languages, geographies and professional backgrounds.

You’ll be confident building relationships, influencing senior stakeholders and bringing people with you through change, even where you don’t have direct line-management responsibility.

Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who combines strong technical financial control expertise with mature, inclusive and effective leadership.

Why This Role?

This is more than a traditional Financial Controller position. It represents an opportunity to work closely with an established Finance Director who is actively looking to develop their successor.

For The Right Individual, This Provides Genuine Scope To

  • Broaden your exposure beyond core financial control
  • Work closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Take on increasing strategic and commercial responsibility
  • Develop your leadership capability across a diverse organisation
  • Build the experience required to progress into a Finance Director-level position

It’s an opportunity for someone who is already operating at a high level as a Financial Controller and is now looking for a role that can accelerate their progression towards Finance Director.

Package & Benefits

  • £90,000 - £120,000 starting salary (experience depending)
  • Annual bonus
  • Car allowance
  • Private healthcare
  • Enhanced pension contribution
  • Collaborative, friendly working environment
  • Genuine long-term career progression and succession opportunity
