French-Speaking Financial Controller

Overview

We are seeking an experienced French-speaking Financial Controller to take ownership of the financial control and reporting activities for the business.

This is a key role within the finance team, requiring a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional who can ensure robust financial processes, accurate reporting and strong financial controls across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be fluent in French and English and comfortable working with stakeholders across an international business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day financial control and accounting activities.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior management.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, processes and procedures are in place and continuously improved.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all accounts are accurately maintained.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital requirements.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Analyse financial performance and provide insight into key variances and trends.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax requirements and statutory obligations.
  • Manage the annual audit process and act as a key point of contact for external auditors.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger activities where applicable.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across the business to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of finance systems and reporting processes.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, process improvements and business initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with French-speaking stakeholders, teams and external partners.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Finance professional.
  • Fluent French and English, both written and spoken, is essential.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience managing the month-end and year-end close process.
  • Strong experience with financial reporting, reconciliations and financial controls.
  • Experience working within an international or multi-entity business would be advantageous.
  • Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
