Financial Controller

Salary: £55,000–£70,000 DOE
Location: Blantyre
Type: Permanent | Full-time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a successful, growing SME at an important stage of its development.

The business is scaling and is looking for a commercially minded, hands-on finance professional who can take ownership of the finance function, strengthen financial controls and provide senior leadership with the insight required to support continued growth.

This role would particularly suit someone who has worked within a small to medium-sized, owner-managed or scaling business, where they have been responsible for the full breadth of finance rather than one individual area.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the business while helping develop the processes, controls and reporting required to support future growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and oversight of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
  • Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Cashflow forecasting, working capital and liquidity management
  • Managing payroll and associated financial processes
  • VAT returns, tax requirements and HMRC compliance
  • Maintaining robust financial controls and identifying opportunities to improve existing processes
  • Supporting statutory accounts and coordinating with external accountants and auditors
  • Providing accurate and commercially useful financial information to senior leadership
  • Managing and developing the finance team
  • Supporting wider operational finance requirements, including areas such as company cars, expenses and procurement
  • Improving systems and processes as the organisation continues to scale
  • Providing financial insight to support commercial and strategic decision-making

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Opportunity

This is not a role where you will simply maintain an established corporate finance process. You will have the opportunity to take genuine ownership, improve how the finance function operates and help create the financial structure needed to support the company's next stage of growth.

For someone who enjoys the variety and autonomy of an SME environment, this offers the opportunity to become a highly influential member of the business while remaining close to the day-to-day numbers.

Salary: £55,000–£70,000 depending on experience.
