Financial Controller
Birmingham | £60,000–£65,000 + benefits | 12-Month FTC
I’m currently working with an established and growing wealth management business in Birmingham who are looking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
This is a broad role with genuine ownership of the finance function, working closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership team across financial control, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and commercial analysis.
The successful candidate will need previous experience within wealth management, with a good understanding of the financial and regulatory requirements within the sector.
The Role
- Oversee monthly management accounts, financial reporting, reconciliations and financial controls
- Manage budgets, forecasting and cash flow
- Oversee adviser fees, commissions and client income reconciliation
- Manage payroll, supplier payments, client invoicing and credit control
- Liaise with HR, external accountants and auditors around payroll, tax and statutory requirements
- Ensure financial processes remain compliant with FCA requirements and relevant legislation
- Provide financial analysis and identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and controls
- Support the Finance Director and senior leadership team with wider business planning and commercial decision-making

About You
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or equivalent experience
- Previous Financial Controller / Finance Manager experience within wealth management
- Strong background across financial reporting, management accounts and financial control
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and cash flow experience
- Good understanding of FCA regulations and financial-services compliance
- Experience with adviser fees, commissions and client income reconciliation
- Strong Excel and financial systems experience
- Confident working with senior stakeholders and providing commercially focused financial insight
