The Role

We are looking for an ambitious Financial Controller to take ownership of the financial management and reporting across a growing London based commercial office property portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager, Senior Management Accountant or Senior Property Accountant who is ready to take the next step in their career and move into a Financial Controller position.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial control of the portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial processes and strong commercial oversight. You will work closely with senior management and clients, becoming a key financial partner to the wider business.

The role offers the opportunity to take on greater responsibility, improve existing processes and play an important part in the continued growth and professionalisation of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the financial management and control of a portfolio of London based commercial office properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.
  • Prepare and review monthly and annual financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow reporting and variance analysis.
  • Review Licence Agreements, MOAs (Managed Occupier Agreements), OOAs (Office Occupation Agreements) and other contractual documentation to ensure billing, recoverable costs and financial processes are correctly applied.
  • Oversee the monthly and quarterly billing process, ensuring sales invoices are raised accurately and in accordance with contractual terms.
  • Maintain oversight of accounts payable, supplier invoices and payment runs, ensuring expenditure is appropriately authorised and aligned with agreed budgets.
  • Review bank reconciliations and monthly cash movements, ensuring strong financial controls are maintained.
  • Take ownership of the quarterly preparation and submission of VAT returns to HMRC.
  • Monitor aged debt and arrears, working closely with credit control and operational teams to improve cash collection.
  • Review and post journals including accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.
  • Work closely with senior management to provide financial insight and support commercial decision-making.
  • Provide clear analysis of financial performance, highlighting key variances, risks and opportunities to senior management.
  • Maintain accurate, robust and audit-ready financial records and coordinate with internal and external auditors where required.
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed across the portfolio.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting and processes, helping to increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
  • Support budgeting and cash flow forecasting across the portfolio and provide financial input into wider business planning such as acquisitions and disposals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, UK GAAP and internal financial controls.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for finance-related queries from clients, occupiers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the continued development of the finance function as the business and portfolio grow.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
