Finance Director – Step Up Opportunity | Tuckers Solicitors
Tuckers Solicitors is looking to appoint a commercially minded, hands-on Finance Director to lead the finance function and support the firm through its next phase of growth.
This could be a particularly interesting opportunity for a Financial Controller who is ready to take the next step into a Finance Director position, but is currently facing a glass ceiling or limited opportunity for progression.
The role will suit someone who is confident managing the day-to-day finance function but is also ready to take on greater responsibility for strategy, commercial decision-making, financial planning and working closely with the Managing Partner and senior leadership team.
Tuckers is currently operating with a number of manual and Excel-based processes, creating a genuine opportunity for the successful candidate to modernise the finance function, improve systems and reporting, increase efficiency and have a direct impact on profitability and growth.

You will lead a finance team and have responsibility across financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow, credit control, payroll, reporting and compliance, including the Solicitors Accounts Rules and COFA responsibilities.
What we’re looking for:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
- Strong Financial Controller / senior finance background
- Previous experience within a law firm is essential
- Ideally exposure to criminal law or Legal Aid
- Commercially minded and comfortable being hands-on
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
- Leadership experience, with the ambition to step into an FD role
- Someone who enjoys improving processes and systems
- A confident communicator who can work closely with Partners and senior management
