Financial Controller | Aberdeen | Permanent

We are delighted to be working exclusively, supporting a growth-focused energy transition business in the search for a Financial Controller to join its' finance team on a permanent basis. (Full & Part time hours can be considered).

Far from your typical Financial Controller role, this is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with experience in having navigated periods of fundraising, project development, and investment readiness, to take ownership of financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and project accounting activities. Working closely with senior leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting business performance, maintaining robust financial controls, and delivering high-quality financial information to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, and group consolidations for senior management review.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting processes, providing meaningful analysis and commentary on business performance.
  • Support project accounting activities, including budget monitoring, cost analysis, and reporting against forecasts.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records through reconciliations, ledger reviews, and robust financial controls.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual and interim financial statements and support external audit requirements.
  • Manage VAT, Corporation Tax, and other statutory compliance obligations, ensuring all filings are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support loan covenant reporting and broader financial governance requirements across the business.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes, controls, and reporting procedures.

About You:

  • Qualified Accountant (CA, CIMA, or ACCA) with relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience in financial reporting and compliance.
  • Experience preparing management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and financial analysis.
  • Able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across both finance and operational teams.
