This well-established Consumer Goods Company based in Central London, is looking to hire a Financial Controller as part of its continued growth. The business has a motivating, rewarding and inclusive culture, and is looking for an ambitious finance professional who can add value to both the finance function and the wider business.

Role Purpose

The Financial Controller will play a key role in overseeing finance operations and supporting the wider management team. You’ll have responsibility for core finance functions — including AP, AR, reporting, forecasting, compliance, and balance sheet management — while driving process improvements, strengthening financial controls, and contributing to strategic decision-making. The role reports to the Finance Director and manages a team of three.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of three finance professionals, ensuring they are engaged, supported, and performing to a high standard.
  • Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial information in accordance with UK GAAP, company policies, and relevant external regulations.
  • Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all postings are completed and reconciliations are finalised in line with the close timetable.
  • Oversee company tax matters, including corporate tax computations, VAT, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Present financial findings and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear and confident manner.
  • Continuously assess and improve finance processes, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external audit activities and manage day-to-day relationships with external stakeholders.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Strong technical knowledge across financial reporting and corporate tax.
  • Proven experience managing, coaching, and developing a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communicator, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build effective relationships across the business.
