At Grundon, we are on the lookout for a dynamic, passionate, and driven Finance Controller to join our Finance team based in Benson.

Role Overview
Reporting into the Finance Director you will play an important role in supporting our mission of leaving a better planet for future generations. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the day to day finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and compliance with accounting standards.
You will partner with operational leaders to provide meaningful financial insight, support informed decision making, and drive business performance. You will also lead and develop the finance team while championing our values, building strong relationships across the business, and contributing to the delivery of our strategic goals.

What will you do
- Lead the finance function, overseeing financial reporting, transactional finance, cash flow, working capital, and tax compliance (including VAT, Corporation Tax, Landfill Tax, and Aggregate Levy).
- Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner with operational leaders to provide commercial financial guidance, improve performance, and identify efficiency opportunities.
- Lead supplier contract negotiations and support procurement activities to achieve best value for the business.
- Ensure robust financial controls, regulatory compliance, and effective management of financial systems, records, and processes.
- Build, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the Finance Director, Board, and external advisors on statutory reporting, business priorities, and strategic projects.
- Play an active role within the Senior Leadership Team, championing company values, driving business objectives, and promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and excellence.

About you
- Recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA)
- Proven experience leading finance teams, with a strong track record of coaching and developing others.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, VAT, and financial compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to translate financial information into clear, practical guidance while building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience improving systems, streamlining processes, and driving efficiencies within a growing business while maintaining compliance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across the business.
