Financial Controller

Greenford – Fully on-site
£60k - £70k + bonus and benefits

Our client, a well-established, privately owned business operating within the construction industry, is looking for a Financial Controller to join their finance team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, with one direct report (an Accounts Payable Manager), you'll own the finance function and play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls and reporting across the business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Financial Reporting & Control: Leading the month-end close and preparing monthly management accounts, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, managing accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and WIP accounting, and supporting the annual statutory audit process.
  • Cash Flow & Treasury: Managing daily cash balances, producing short and medium-term cash flow forecasts, maintaining bank reconciliations, and providing regular cash flow and treasury reporting to the board.
  • Taxation & Compliance: Ensuring accurate and timely VAT, CIS and PAYE submissions, managing statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, and maintaining strong relationships with auditors, HMRC and external advisers.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Supporting the annual budgeting process and monitoring actual performance against budget, investigating variances as they arise.
  • Team Management & Governance: Managing and developing the Accounts Payable function, reviewing new supplier onboarding, and ensuring robust financial controls are maintained across all accounting processes.
  • Systems & Process Improvement: Acting as a key lead on the finance ERP system, and driving improvements to finance processes, automation and reporting accuracy.
  • Credit Control & Working Capital: Overseeing credit control and debtor management, ensuring accurate and timely contract invoicing, and managing the sales ledger.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
