A fast-growing, private equity-backed construction group is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its senior leadership team. Having achieved significant growth in recent years and with ambitious future plans, the organisation operates within a regulated environment and is positioning itself for a significant future corporate transaction.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the Group CFO, you will take ownership of the finance function, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely and high-quality financial information across the business. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day finance operation, strengthening financial controls and developing a high-performing finance team. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the finance function, including qualified accountants and transactional finance teams.
- Owning the month-end, year-end and statutory reporting processes.
- Ensuring robust financial controls, governance and reporting accuracy across the organisation.
- Managing the external audit process and maintaining strong relationships with advisors.
- Delivering high-quality management information and financial analysis to senior stakeholders.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and business planning activities.
- Driving continuous improvement across finance processes, systems and controls.
- Providing commercial support to operational and executive leadership teams.

What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance or Finance Director within a growing business.
- Strong financial controls, governance and reporting expertise.
- Ideally trained within practice with a solid audit background.
- Experience within construction, infrastructure, energy, civil engineering or other project-led environments would be highly advantageous.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing finance teams.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and growth-focused environment.
- Ability to challenge, influence and support senior business leaders.
