Role: Financial Controller

Location: Central London (Hybrid – 3 days in the office / 2 days from home)
Salary: £75,000–£85,000 + Benefits

The Opportunity

We're partnering with a growing food FMCG business with annual revenues of approximately £50 million to recruit a Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for either an established Financial Controller or a high-performing Finance Manager looking to take the next step in their career. Working closely with the Finance Director, you'll gain broad exposure across the finance function while helping to support the continued growth of the business.

You'll take ownership of financial reporting, controls and compliance, while also partnering with operational teams to improve processes and provide valuable commercial insight. This is a hands-on role within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, offering genuine career development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end close and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts with analysis and commentary.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and oversee cash flow reporting.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and lead key aspects of the year-end audit.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT, tax and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Develop and improve financial controls, systems and reporting processes.
  • Partner with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insight.
  • Support inventory accounting, stock reporting and working capital management.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the finance function, supporting transactional finance where required.
  • Mentor junior members of the finance team and help build a high-performing finance function.
  • Work alongside the Finance Director on projects, business improvements and future growth initiatives.

About You

We're open to candidates who are already operating as a Financial Controller, as well as ambitious Finance Managers, Financial Reporting Managers or Senior Management Accountants looking to step into their first Financial Controller role.

You'll ideally have:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified - essential
  • Experience working for an FMCG business - essential
  • Experience preparing management accounts and month-end reporting.
  • Good understanding of financial controls and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to improve processes.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business.
  • Previous experience within FMCG, food, manufacturing or another stock-based environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
