Elite are delighted to be partnering with a well-established international retail business to recruit an experienced Financial Controller - EMEA, based in London. This is a hands-on, commercially-focused role working closely with the Finance Director and teams across Retail, Operations, HR and Commercial. There's a particular focus on retail operations and international markets, so experience across multiple countries and/or legal entities would be highly beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly and year-end close process, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
- Analyse results against budget/forecast, review reconciliations, accruals and intercompany balances
- Support statutory accounts, audits and financial controls
- Monitor retail performance: sales, margin, staff costs, inventory and store profitability
- Analyse staff costs and headcount with HR, and support expansion projects with financial modelling and scenario analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting process and regular forecasting, challenging assumptions and flagging risks/opportunities
- Coordinate consistent financial reporting across multiple countries and legal entities, including multi-currency and intercompany reporting
- Work with local teams and external providers on accounting, tax and statutory matters
- Drive improvements in finance processes, systems and management reporting

Requirements

- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or qualified by experience
- Strong background in financial control, management accounting or commercial finance
- Experience in retail, fashion, luxury, FMCG or another multi-site consumer business
- Experience across multiple countries/legal entities
- Strong P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, budgeting and forecasting skills
- Strong Excel and ERP/financial systems skills
- Commercially minded, confident with senior stakeholders
Desirable
- Multi-currency/intercompany reporting
- New store openings or international expansion
- Experience with external accounting/tax providers
