Financial Controller | 12 month FTC | £75-£90k | London | Hybrid
Marks Sattin are currently recruiting for an experienced Financial Controller to join a well-established international business on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a broad, hands-on position with responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day financial control environment while managing and developing a finance team.
Operating within a commercially complex organisation, you'll need to be comfortable working across different sources of revenue, ensuring the underlying accounting is accurate and that appropriate processes and controls are in place.
The role offers a good balance between technical accounting, team leadership and continuous improvement, with plenty of opportunity to make an impact across the wider finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the monthly accounting cycle and ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
- Taking ownership of the balance sheet, ensuring accounts are appropriately reconciled, reviewed and supported.
- Maintaining oversight of accounting across multiple revenue streams and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment is applied.
- Reviewing existing finance processes and identifying opportunities to improve controls, efficiency and consistency.
- Providing oversight across VAT, intercompany and wider technical accounting matters.
- Managing and developing a finance team, providing support and ensuring clear accountability across the function.
- Working closely with senior finance leadership and wider business stakeholders to resolve accounting and operational issues.
- Coordinating with external auditors and supporting the business through the year-end process.
- Contributing to wider systems, automation and finance improvement projects.

About You

You'll be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience and a proven track record operating at Financial Controller level.
You'll have strong technical accounting and financial control experience, alongside a track record of managing teams and taking ownership within a busy commercial finance environment.
We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked within media, retail or hospitality, or similarly fast-paced businesses with multiple revenue streams.
You'll be comfortable getting into the detail when required, while also having the experience and confidence to work with senior stakeholders and lead a team.
Previous experience of improving finance processes and controls is important, while exposure to systems change, automation or wider finance transformation would be advantageous.
