Description

Role Purpose

The Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day financial control and reporting of the business, providing accurate financial insight while supporting senior leadership with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and commercial decision-making. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on improving processes, controls, and reporting as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly management accounts, reporting pack, and detailed variance analysis.
  • Provide clear financial insight and commentary to senior management, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections, and scenario modelling.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, ensuring accuracy and integrity across the ledger.
  • Oversee VAT, statutory reporting, year-end accounts, and audit requirements.
  • Monitor working capital, debtor performance, and cash collection.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and system efficiency.
  • Work closely with operational and commercial teams to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
  • Drive automation, data accuracy, and continuous improvement across the finance function.
  • Support the wider finance team and contribute to the development of a robust, scalable finance operation.

Profile

A successful Finance Manager should have:

  • Professional accounting qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Proven experience in running a finance function in an SME.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools.
