Financial Controller
The hourly rate is £60 Inside IR35 Umbrella (£450 per day), contract duration is until 31.12.2026 – 37.5 hours per week – 2-3 days per week in the Manchester office for meetings
Are you an accomplished finance professional with a passion for designing robust accounting processes and leading financial control initiatives? We are seeking a fully qualified accountant with extensive experience in financial oversight, project management, and process improvement to elevate our organization's financial operations. What You'll Do:
- Lead the development and implementation of effective manual and automated accounting processes.
- Assess current financial systems, identify gaps, and design interim control procedures to support critical initiatives within tight timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate intercompany and segment reporting.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation, including process narratives, control descriptions, and reconciliation protocols.
- Support and facilitate financial transformation projects, working independently and managing ambiguity with strategic initiative.
- Prepare and deliver progress reports to senior management, highlighting risks, dependencies, and critical milestones.
- Establish sustainable operating models that balance control effectiveness with operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Fully qualified accountant with strong experience in financial control and process design.
- Demonstrable expertise in working on complex projects within multi-entity environments.
- Deep understanding of intercompany accounting, segment reporting, and reconciliation processes.
- Excellent documentation skills, producing audit-ready materials.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships across finance and non-finance teams.
- Strong organizational skills, capable of working autonomously and managing multiple priorities.

Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience supporting finance transformation or system implementation initiatives.
- Familiarity with SAP BTL accounting, BlackLine, or comparable finance systems.
- Background in multinational or shared service environments.
- Knowledge of risk-based process design and financial controls.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in financial control, process improvement, or finance transformation roles.
- Prior experience working in fast-paced, multinational organisations, with a focus on automation and system upgrades.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Flexibility to adapt to project demands, including occasional travel if necessary.
- Strong communication skills to clearly articulate complex procedures and assessments.
