Financial Controller

Central Leeds | £60,000–£70,000 + package

We’re working with a growing business in central Leeds that is looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in the wider business.

The role

You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day financial control environment, including:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts, MI and consolidated group reporting.
  • Managing forecasting, budgeting and group cashflow forecasts.
  • Overseeing the ledgers, VAT and wider financial accounting processes.
  • Producing financial analysis and commentary for the Group CFO and senior stakeholders.
  • Managing the year-end audit process and acting as the key contact for external auditors.
  • Taking ownership of statutory accounts and ensuring all financial and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Reviewing systems and processes and identifying opportunities to improve the finance function.
  • Supporting cost reduction, profitability analysis and wider business decision-making.
  • Managing VAT and HMRC processes, including R&D and Patent Box calculations.
  • Working with external advisors, auditors, banks and other key stakeholders.
  • Managing, mentoring and developing the finance team.
  • Ensuring the finance function continues to evolve as the business grows.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
