Baker Charles is recruiting for a newly created Financial Controller position with a large, multi-site business based in the West Midlands.
Reporting to the CFO, this is a broad and highly visible leadership role with responsibility across financial control, reporting, treasury, working capital, finance systems and finance operations. The successful candidate will lead a sizeable team of around 40 qualified, part-qualified and other qualified finance professionals and play a central role in transforming the finance function.
The business is looking for someone who can challenge established ways of working, improve processes and controls, increase automation and create a more efficient, scalable and forward-looking finance function.

- Leading and developing teams across financial accounting, finance operations and finance systems
- Driving finance transformation, process redesign, standardisation and automation
- Taking full ownership of month-end, quarterly reporting, audit and cash flow
- Improving and accelerating the close process, with clearer accountability across Finance
- Strengthening balance sheet governance, reconciliations and financial controls
- Leading statutory reporting and the external audit process
- Improving the use of finance systems, data and technology
- Overseeing cash, working capital, treasury and associated controls
- Building greater resilience, succession and capability across the function
- Creating more effective and consistent ways of working across Finance
Requirements
We are looking for a fully qualified accountant with experience as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance or in another senior finance leadership role. You will combine strong technical accounting and control expertise with a proven track record of transformation, improving finance processes, systems and ways of working.

The successful individual will be commercially minded, pragmatic and comfortable challenging established processes. You will have the credibility to influence senior stakeholders, lead a large team through change and balance strong governance with practical solutions.
