We’re looking for a qualified Financial Controller to join PayPoint and play a key role in strengthening our finance function. Based 3 - 4 days a week in our office in Welwyn Garden City AL7 1EL.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines strong technical accounting and financial control experience with the confidence to challenge, influence and improve how things are done. You’ll lead core reporting and control activity, support better decision-making, and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the monthly management accounts and reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely financial information
  • Reviewing financial performance, explaining key variances and supporting forecasting and business decisions
  • Owning and improving financial controls, processes and systems to drive efficiency and quality
  • Acting as a key contact for external auditors and supporting annual and interim audit activity
  • Coaching and supporting members of the finance team, while staying close enough to the detail to step in where needed
  • Partnering with finance and non-finance colleagues to provide clear insight, constructive challenge and practical support

We’re looking for someone who is a qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.

  • Experienced in financial control, management reporting, month-end close and balance sheet review
  • Confident with technical accounting and able to explain financial matters clearly to different audiences
  • Strong with Excel, finance systems and large data sets
  • Commercially curious, analytical and comfortable challenging existing ways of working
  • A clear communicator and credible stakeholder partner who can build trust quickly.

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central / NAV, listed or complex group environments, audit, controls improvement or finance transformation would be a real advantage.
