are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and purpose-driven organisation to recruit a Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a collaborative and forward-thinking finance team, playing a key role in financial control, reporting, forecasting, project support, and business improvement. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will help drive financial performance, support strategic decision-making, and contribute to the continued success of the organisation.

Your new role

As Financial Controller, you will support the delivery of accurate financial and management accounting information, ensuring the integrity of the ledger, maintaining robust financial controls, and assisting with month-end and year-end reporting processes. You will take ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow reporting, treasury activities, and audit support, while contributing to statutory reporting, VAT returns, and tax-related requirements. You will also play an important role in forecasting and budgeting, providing financial insight to support organisational planning and performance. In addition, you will partner with project and operational teams, delivering financial analysis, project accounting support, and budget management across a variety of initiatives.

The role offers significant exposure to senior management and board reporting, while also providing opportunities to lead process improvements, enhance financial systems and reporting capabilities, support funding claims and monitoring activities, and contribute to wider business initiatives. You will supervise and mentor members of the finance team and act as a trusted finance partner across the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified ACCA or CA accountant with strong technical accounting knowledge and previous experience working within a financial and management accounting environment. You will possess excellent organisational skills, be capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines, and demonstrate the ability to work independently while remaining a collaborative and supportive team player.

You will have experience of financial reporting, forecasting, balance sheet management, audit processes, and project accounting, alongside strong communication and stakeholder management skills. A proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement, and business partnering will be essential. Experience with Sage accounting software, together with excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills, will be highly advantageous. Knowledge of charity accounting would be beneficial but is not essential.
