Role Description

Pacesetter Productions is a writer-driven production company, with offices in London and Los Angeles, making television programs and feature films for the international market.

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of our company.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in corporate accounting within the media, television, or entertainment sector, bringing both the technical expertise and leadership skills necessary to manage a growing portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the financial performance of the entire active production slate.
  • Ensure strict adherence to UK & US production accounting standards, payroll, VAT, and International TV tax relief incentive schemes.
  • Partner with the Head of Production to draft production budgets and cash flow schedules.
  • Consolidate and model cash flows, tracking studio and broadcaster milestone payments against upfront production spend.
  • Oversee production accountants and line producers to build, track, and manage show budgets, contingencies and forecasts, escalating critical risks directly to the senior leadership team.
  • Recruit and onboard freelance Production Accountants, ensuring they adhere to company policies, standardized reporting codes, and financial controls.
  • Manage the end-to-end process for the UK Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit (AVEC) and relevant international filming incentives, ensuring applications are accurate and maximized.
  • Lead the preparation of production audits and final delivery cost reports for broadcasters, SVODs, and distributors.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close for the company and all active production SPVs, delivering accurate management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L analyses.
  • Coordinate annual corporate audits, statutory accounts preparation, corporate tax compliance, and VAT filings.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
