Part-Time Financial Controller | Cardiff | 2 Days Per Week

Flexible Working | Forward-Thinking SME

Are you an experienced Financial Controller looking for a part-time opportunity where you can genuinely influence the direction of a growing business?

We’re working with a forward-thinking SME in Cardiff that is looking to appoint a commercially minded Financial Controller to join the business on a part-time basis, working 2 days per week.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the financial reporting function while acting as a trusted business partner to the wider organisation.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the day-to-day finance function.
  • Producing accurate and insightful management reporting and financial information.
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders to provide commercial insight and support decision-making.
  • Business partnering across the organisation, challenging performance and identifying opportunities.
  • Supporting the strategic financial planning and development of the business.
  • Managing budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
  • Improving financial processes, controls and reporting.
  • Managing, developing and coaching a Finance Assistant, helping them grow and develop within the business.
  • Supporting relationships with B2B clients across Europe and overseas markets.
  • Working with Xero to maintain and develop efficient finance processes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
