Position: 12 Months FTC - Financial Controller – Power T&D

Reporting to the Head of Finance – Power T&D

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our finance team within our growing Power T&D business. This is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to strengthen financial performance and support the continued growth of the business.

Reporting to the T&D Head of Finance, you will provide governance, insight, and challenge across the organisation. You will take ownership of Balance Sheet, overheads, statutory compliance, risk management and internal controls, while partnering closely with T&D Finance, Group Shared Services, operational and project teams to drive sustainable growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Take comprehensive ownership of the Balance Sheet and Overhead reporting, alongside all intercompany reconciliations.
  • Understand project cost recovery, manage project cost allocations and oversee the accurate absorption of overheads into project costs.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Produce high-quality management accounts accompanied by insightful commentary on Overheads and Balance Sheet performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, internal controls, and reporting across the Power T&D Pillar.

Cashflow & Performance Management

  • Support Head of Finance in forecasting activities for Overheads and Balance Sheet.
  • Support Head of Finance in Cash Flow Forecasting.
  • Provide commercial insight to optimise cash generation, allocate project costs efficiently, and monitor planned overhead increases as strategic capacity investments for business growth.
  • Drive finance process and system improvements while embedding best practice across the pillar.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

  • Manage external audit requirements and ensure timely, clean audit delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT, CIS, and all relevant regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee risk management and financial compliance activities.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent within an SME or divisional structure.
  • Understanding cost recovery.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP and statutory compliance.
  • Proven experience delivering high-quality financial reporting and decision-support information.
  • Significant expertise in Balance Sheet, financial planning, and analysis.
  • Ability to interpret commercial and operational data to drive business performance.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Background within infrastructure, utilities, engineering, construction, or related sectors.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Strong post-qualification experience with strong technical expertise and a proven track record of operating in a senior finance role.
